Back in March, I mentioned that Album 27: The Search for Whit would be the next repackaged album. This particular collection of episodes was particularly special because it featured the return of the show's most important character. As such, I had high hopes for the cover art. And the artists did not disappoint!
Compared to the original cover art, I definitely think it's an improvement. That being said, I love the 3D look of the new artwork as compared with the cartoon style of the old artwork. This repackage releases June 2008. Your thoughts?

Are you kidding me? That's awefull! I definetly like the old one better.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I don't like is Jason w/ the goatee. I thought he didn't grow one 'till 'Shining Armor'.
ReplyDeleteI love the new artwork personally. Having the artwork all updated to the new style helps identify the series as one thing and keeps everything looking interesting. I hope they do this to all othe volumes!
ReplyDeleteI really like the new artwor too-my only thing is that occasionally the characters do look a bit like bobbleheads. However...maybe Odyssyans are afflicted with a rare mutation or something that enlarges the head. Radiation leakage or something. Plotline! Plotline!
ReplyDeleteI really do like the new artwork.
This was one album I was concerned about. Reaction? Could be worse. Actually, considering I'm not a fan of the caricature deal, this one is pretty decent.
ReplyDelete-Jonathan
I've always loved traditional cartoon type stuff, but as far as 3d looks go, this is decent although Jason seems to be a bit "bad guy" with the facial expression and goatee. I agree with the goatee thing, i've never really pictured Jason as having one (until shining armor, then i figured he'd shave it off).
ReplyDeleteAnd they updated the type on the cover to be more kid-like attention grabbing. Papyrus ITC was definitely an 80s-90s fad that needs to fade away.
No, the goatee is TOTALY Jason! in Shining Armor, that was the first time anyone there had seen Jason with the goatee; it sounded to me like he hadn't visited there for a long time.
ReplyDeleteYo, this is totaly off topic, but i'm not sure how many people out there have noticed the mistake AIO has made with Mandy's hair. Is it Blonde, or brown? According to the new Big Picture album art, it's blonde, and i think it was blonde in one of the episodes in Wildest Dreams.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in the episode "Seeing Red", Liz is describing Mandy to Seth and she tells him that she has brown hair. Is it just me, or did they make a mistake?
i love how they make Jason look like Indian Jones.
ReplyDeleteI like the original cover art, but that is just me and my memories of listening to them and seeing the cover. I really do like the new 3D stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I wish they did with this one is keep Whit on there looking at them like they did with the original cover art.
Other then that I think they are doing a good job on them and hope they keep doing it. =)
As far as the "goatee" thing gos - I think he looks cool with it but if he did not have one in the story then I do not think they should give him one.
Later,
Jordan
It's never really established when he grew one, so I guess they can get away with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Mandy's hair thing: Yah, she's blonde on the cover, and in 'Sunset Bowlewater', "Crackers" goes 'Blonde. Beautiful'. I can't remember the Liz thing...but maybe she dyes it!
Whit is on the new cover; or at least his shadow is.
ReplyDeleteIs it true that they're only re-doing albums 16 through 35?? Albums 36 to 43 should be redone as well, to match the others. Right?
ReplyDeleteAny idea of when the next cover'll be released??
Albums 36-46 will be repackaged with mostly the same artwork, but just re-framed, such as album 39.
ReplyDeleteSweet! can you get more of those?
ReplyDeleteIf you're referring to album artwork, I'll be posting them as they are made available. :)
ReplyDeletelol, Indiana Jones
ReplyDeleteJason looks a lot like Indiana Jones on the cover!
