In the latest edition of the Official Podcast, hosts Bob and Jesse announced they will be giving away a free Odyssey episode in an upcoming podcast. Normally, I'm not terribly excited by their giveaways since I already own the episode, but this one is particularly special since it's going to be an unreleased episode... and you get to vote on which one they release! Already, over one thousand votes have been tabulated, so go cast yours if you haven't already had a chance to do so.
I find it rather incredibly amusing that Light's Out at Whit's End has received 28% percent of the vote thus far, which is likely a response to the short clip they played in an earlier podcast. I'm not suggesting listeners actually enjoyed hearing Whit, Tom, and the kids attempt to create their own rap song, but there is something incredibly fascinating about seeing or hearing a disaster. I suppose it's not unlike drivers who slow down when passing by an accident.
Gotcha! is presently in second place with 29% of the vote. This is one that needs to be put in an album since it's connected to and referenced in It Began with a Rabbit's Foot. Not surprisingly, the episode currently leading the polls with 30% of the vote is You Go To School Where? Although perhaps no longer relevant in today's day and age, this show has probably drawn a lot of interest from Odyssey's vast contingent of homeschooled listeners.
Pulling up the rear with 8% and 4% of the vote are Addictions Can Be Habit Forming and BTV: Grace, respectively.
Which one would you like to hear and why?

You go to school where? and BTV: Grace are both available from FOTF on a single cd, so we should vote for other episodes like Gotcha
ReplyDeleteOh? That's good to hear. I voted for "Gotcha!"
ReplyDeleteI voted for "Gotcha!" I do not know much about this episode (the descriptions of the episodes seemed brief in the Official Guide), so I want to hear it.
ReplyDelete"Gotcha!" is the one I missed and I would like to hear it - so that is how I voted! =)
ReplyDeleteI voted Gotcha!
ReplyDeleteI voted lights out at whit's end. But I can get it off of Odysseyfan...
ReplyDeleteI am homeschooled and I think "You go to school where?" would be a good one because I haven't heard any episodes about homeschoolers yet.
ReplyDeleteAubrey and Bethany Shephard were homeschooled. The homeschooling Shephard family is fairly true-to-life, while "You Go to School Where?" is an inaccurate portrayal of homeschooling. It is an interesting show to hear, though; and I would recommend purchasing it from FOTF (by phone) if it doesn't win.
ReplyDeleteAgree with previous comment about innacuracy of 'You Go to School Where'--that's why they quit airing it. (The Shepherd family portrayed it well, I thought) But you can get it from Focus just by asking, so let's vote for a different one!
ReplyDeleteAgree with previous comment... "you can get it from Focus just by asking, so let's vote for a different one!"!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI voted for Light's Out at Whit's End cause I can get the others on Odyssey Fan.
ReplyDeleteActually, you CAN get "Light's Out at Whit's End" on Odyssey Fan... so...
ReplyDeleteYou can also get Gotcha there too.
ReplyDeleteyou have a point there...
ReplyDeletewait one sec... YOU CAN GET THEM ALL THERE @ ODYSSEY FAN!?!?! (so why are they doing this?...and why am I voting?)
ReplyDeleteYeah Jordan, why?
ReplyDeleteOdyssey Fan doesn't have You Go to School Where? though.
ReplyDeleteOdysseyFan may not have "You Go to School Where?", but that's because it is available LEGALLY straight from Focus. "Gotcha!" and the other episodes on his site aren't.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for "Gotcha!" because the quality of OdysseyFan's copy is absolutely AWEFUL. It seems like the tape must have been worn out before it was put on digital format because the voices speed up and slow down throughout as if it were stretched.
Personally, I wish all of these would be made available through Whitsend.org or family.org for a $3donation or released on another lost episodes album.
Has anybody else noticed that you can vote twice?
ReplyDeleteTrinity, I do not know why I am voting - to tell you the truth Pierre has a good point and how its really not legal to get them from Odyssey Fan and that they are ALL vary bad quality - so in reality I am voting for the one I want to hear in GOOD quality not the one I want to hear because I have never heard it before. (and it would be nice to own it legally).
ReplyDeleteBut you are vary right Pierre in how they should make them available online to buy...
And actually Austin, you CAN get "You go to School Where?" off odysseyfan, here is the link 2 it:
http://www.odysseyfan.com/Audio/085.%20You%20Go%20to%20School%20Where.mp3
but once more it is bad quality...
And yes Anonymous, you can vote as much as you want - all you have to do is close your browser then go back into it - but unless you want to cheat (and do that like 3,000 times) then there is no point.
by the way - in the last 30 min. they took off the voting on there website and have put up there new video podcast.
ReplyDeleteWhen's your new podcast going to be?
ReplyDeleteyes can you make a new one soon?
ReplyDeleteyes, we want a new one!
